I am going to the doctor to get on the pill next week, but I have no idea which one is the best, with the least side affects. I researched and found that it is actaully a myth that people gain weight on the pill, but it is true that some people do have a lower sex drive, do get moody, ect ect....which one are you all on, what do you recommend????

Havaianas
I couldnt tell ya. I tried once ... once and the headaches were so bad I was bed ridden for two days ... no need for extra hormones here thank you. Most of my friends are on the patch though if that helps
1I did the patch and was allergic to the adhesive
. My libido also was nonexistent. Not an
issue if you arent sexually active but a side effect. I went off of it and haven't taken any other birth controls since.
2ive tried alesse and it hasnt been that bad...not really any side effects here just some spotting in between periods. i had to switch from ortho tricyclen because it had too much hormones and it was making me crazy. i have a hard time remembering to take the pills so im thinking of switching to depo, nuvaring, or the patch.
3Talk to your doctor about it. I'm sure that he/she can offer better advice then us.
4They will probably put you on one that has a low dose of horomones in it and see if that's ok. If you get spotting, then you just go back and they will put you on one that's a little stronger until they find one that work well with your body chemistry.
What about jazmin? Is it any good?
5yea its really something that you have to ask about.. they do usually start people with low dosage.. and then just work your way up if you need to or go down if that one is too strong.. but for the most part they start you off on something like alesse... but i agree with ivegotspunk... tricyclen also made me a little bit crazy!! lol i would cry ALOT.. soo it just a trial and error thing .. but i recommend NOT going on the depo shot.. i was on it about 3 years ago and within a year.. well i gained like 30 lbs.. and that wasn't fun! soo thats a bad side effect for that one.. really i think the birth control is the safest out there..just set your alarm on your phone! or buy one of those cute little packs! and you will be good to go!...
hope this helps! good luck!
6I definitely don't recommend the patch. And I wasn't particulary good about taking the pill on time all the time, so now I'm on the nuvaring, which was recommended by my OBGYN. And for the most part, it's worked well for me. But definitely talk to your OBGYN and see what they can recommend for you.
7I am going in for an appointment next week. I wanted to talk to you guys about it, because Idon't talk doctors AT ALL. I took the pill in high school and don't remember any side effects. I was already a moody teenager, so. I did gain weight but I think it had to do with me not excercising and eating a lot of junk, because later, I went on a diet and excercise program and lost the wieght and then some, and I was still on the pill.
Personally, I am nervouse and don't want to go on any of those things...hormones in my body??? yuck! what about the spericide gels, those are pretty good.
8I was on Alesse 28 and now I'm on Trivora. I did not gain weight on either or have mood changes. I really think it depends on a person's body.
The only thing I would not suggest is the BS shot. I did that and had some pretty bad issues.
9So, you've already been on the pill, but now you don't want anything that affects the hormonal balance of your body?
Sorry, I've always gone the hormonal route.
Do you want something that prevents pregnancy or that helps protect you against STDs or both?
10I take Yaz and let me tell you, its awesome having three day periods! your doctor will talk to you though and you'll decide what is best for you. the only one that i know of that makes you gain weight is the shot
11Thanks all!! I have my appointment today!
12I am on YAZ right now. It's ok. It's got low side effects for ME. Though there is no Generic version so I am asking my doc to switch me back to Ortho-Tri-Cyclen. I like that the best, helps with the Acne and doesn't cause weight gain (for me) and there is a generic version! YAZ is cool though because your periods are only like 3-4 days.
:)
peace. Mindy
13I just got on Yaz. My boobs feel fuller, teh way they do when I am on my period, but thats ok. Other wise, everything else feels fine. I have felt sort of sick, but hopefully that will pass soon.
14Every BC pill affects people differently. I gained 15lbs but it was all breast and hip tissue 'cause I was in my early 20s and hadn't developed all that much yet. I tried 5 different kinds of pills before I found Yasmin - don't be afraid to call your doctor and ask to try a different pill if you're experiencing side effects you don't like after a few months. One pill gave me a bunch of water weight, another made me so depressed I got to the point where I spent 2 days in bed crying for no reason, another was perfect except that it completely killed my sex drive. It's a trial and error process.
15Truthj - after all the research - I skipped on the pill and went for Mirena. So far, okay. Cramping & spotting, not so fun. Five-years w/o worry, easy removal, and change-your-mind-at-anytime factor. Very cool. Good Luck - though.
16I wanna switch birth control pill but I don't know what will be the safest for my health and body any ideas??
17I am no help in this field. I took the pill years ago and was never able to remember to take it on a daily basis. I did in fact like taking the Depo shot. The only down-fall was I gained a ton of weight with it! I had tried the patch and I got violently sick from that. Given that I have tried so many things, I am not on anything right now. I am in a committed relationship and we are careful with our actions.
Sorry, I sucj and can't help out. I hope it works out for you!
